Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity – Trustees

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

The RNRMC is the principal charity of the Royal Navy and is about to embark on an exciting new chapter in its history having adopted a bold and ambitious strategy. Our vision remains the same; a in a world in which sailors, marines and their families are valued and supported, for life. Our new strategy will see us honour that vision. The charity is run by a Board of up to 15 Trustees drawn from serving personnel, former serving personnel and Trustees who have no direct Service experience. We are looking for up to three new, high calibre Trustees to work with the existing Board to take this strategy forward.

Ideal candidates will be those that can demonstrate senior experience up to Board level, in the private, public or voluntary sector. We are looking for strategic thinkers with sound, objective judgement, a willingness to speak their mind, work as part of a team, and have a good knowledge of sound governance and its practical application. Specific skills in the areas of strategic communications and digital engagement would be desirable for one candidate. We are also looking for another with health and social care experience, with an understanding of measuring impacts and monitoring need. Above all, an empathy and commitment to honour our vision is a must.

The Trustee Board meets four times a year, usually in Portsmouth and has an annual Away Day. Most Trustees also serve on a Board Sub-Committee. This is a volunteer role with normal expenses reimbursed as required.
