SSAFA – Branch Secretary

£4,680 per annum (FTE £14,625 pa)
12 hours per week

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Branch Secretary in the Merseyside Branch at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.

About the role

Reporting to the Branch Chairman you will have functional responsibility to members of the Branch Management Committee and SSAFA Central Office for the day-to-day management of activities within the Merseyside Branch.  Principal tasks are casework allocation to Divisional Secretaries, general office administration and ensuring that casework is delivered consistently and appropriately across the branch, but other key responsibilities include recruitment, training, and development of Volunteers.  Administrative assistance will be required periodically with sub-committees, including; Fundraising, Public Relations and Awareness as well as event management and the organisation of the branch AGM.

Whilst a military service or background is not a pre-requisite, it is vital that you can demonstrate an empathy with the particular challenges faced by those in the Regular and Reserve Forces together with their families in times of need.  You will have demonstrable administration skills, be a sound communicator, capable of multi-tasking and have an eye for detail.   The need for fairness and flexibility is also vital when leading and encouraging a largely volunteer workforce.  With over 90 other Branches in the United Kingdom and abroad this appointment represents the sharp end of delivering SSAFA’s aims efficiently and effectively.
