The White Ensign Association – Administration and Support Manager

Part-time (20 hours) London (HMS BELFAST) – £27,750 pro-rata (£15,000 pa actual))

The White Ensign Association is an established, all ranks Service charity, charged with providing personal help and advice for all serving and former members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, their Reserves and Families.  The bulk of charitable activity undertaken by the Association  is connected with helping sailors and marines make a successful transition from a service to civilian life, focusing particularly on the personal finance and second career aspirations of each individual.  The WEA aims to help servicemen and women, to start the second stage of their, and their families’ lives, on a secure financial footing and in a suitable career or role.

The Association is looking for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to join its small staff of five, based in HMS BELFAST, in the pool of London, on a part time basis (4/5 days a week) as the Administration and Support Manager to help sustain the charity’s operations.

The Role will include:

  • The management of all routine office functions – the maintenance of documentation records, meeting preparation, and statistics collation.
  • Assisting in the routine management of the WEA Website and digital and social media including daily updates and information, collation of associated publications including the blog and newsletter.
  • The maintenance of the company and individual membership registers, including simple invoicing.
  • The collation and compilation of the Association’s annual magazine.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for communications by telephone, e-mail or mail into the Association’s offices.
  • Support to all staff members, as necessary,  in the preparation for and undertaking of meetings and special events.

The Candidate should:

  • Have experience of undertaking unsupervised administrative work in an office environment.
  • An appreciation of digital media.
  • Possess a good telephone manner and relationship building abilities.
  • Have an empathy with the UK Armed Forces community – knowledge or understanding of, working in the Forces environment is desirable but not essential.
