The Royal British Legion – Financial Accountant – Subsidiaries


The Royal British Legion is the UK’s leading service charity providing care and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families; and is the Nation’s custodian of Remembrance. The Finance Function is undertaking changes to ensure that it is well equipped to support delivery of the Legion’s ambitious new five year strategy.

The charity is now looking to recruit a high calibre, qualified Financial Accountant to act as the lead accountant for all Head Office based subsidiaries within the Legion group.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounts, this interesting and varied role will involve:

  • Preparing the month end and statutory accounts for the Legion’s subsidiaries, whose diverse activities include on-line retailing (Poppy Shop), lotteries, travel and the design and build of new Care Home facilities;
  • Taking responsibility for subsidiary audits, including the provision of information to internal and external auditors;
  • Streamlining and standardising processes relating to subsidiaries, ensuring that audit recommendations are implemented and working with the business to ensure a high level of customer service is provided by the Finance Function; and
  • Acting as advisor in all matters related to subsidiary accounts.
