We are looking for a Governance & Support Manager (GSM) to play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Charity upholds a framework of excellence, integrity, accountability and complies with all its legal, regulatory and statutory requirements.
The GSM will be responsible for ensuring that robust governance and compliance standards are adhered to across the Charity, as well as ensuring the business support requirements of the charity for the Board and sub committees are delivered effectively and efficiently. The GSM will also lead on Projects set by the Board which relate to the future requirements relating to long-term financial sustainability or growth of the charity. This will ensure the Charity meets and discharges any related statutory, regulatory and internal/external governance obligations and protects the Charity and our reputation.
The GSM will actively partner with senior stakeholders, Trustees, CEO, DCOO and external bodies to ensure strategic decisions are compliant with any regulatory or statutory considerations. They will help plan, develop and deploy the governance and compliance strategic roadmap, as well as support the Director of Finance with the Charity’s risk management strategy. This will ensure all initiatives optimise agility, adaptability and scalability for the Charity so that the future operating model operates within set financial boundaries.
Working in conjunction with the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO), the GSM will lead and manage the Business Support Officer(s) (BSOs) monitoring, mentoring and providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on-time. This will include assigning tasks and workload to BSOs and those with a business support aspect to their post, based on the individual’s role, experience and strengths to ensure effective and even distribution of work, enabling the team to meet deadlines whilst maintaining high quality standards, and acting as the contact point to resolve issues. You will be pivotal in engendering and encouraging a collaborative approach through open communication, transparency and support, and by encouraging and facilitating the sharing of ideas and solutions.
Your role will include overseeing the provision of high quality administrative and general business support to the DCOO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as directed, including meeting document preparation, taking minutes, distributing papers etc. and undertaking general administration tasks as required and appropriate to the role.
A key responsibility will be overseeing the administrative function of the general enquiry line, ensuring an effective signposting response is given to individuals who contact the RNRMC or WRNS BT via the general line or via e-mail and on occasion in person, requiring support or advice when seeking general information or support, and ensuring the delivery of the support to individuals in times of crisis is directed to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
You will be required to cover aspects of work for the DCOO leave and absence periods, or as required, and will therefore need to ‘step in’ at a higher level when needed.

Experience and Background
You will have experience in charity governance, excellent organisation and planning skills, overseeing a high quality administration and general business support service, whilst managing a small team. You will have previously worked on projects, have a hands-on approach and be able to speak confidently, presenting clear and concise information.

Hours of Work
Hours of work are 35 hours per week, 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.
We have a friendly, supportive, and inclusive environment with a hybrid working approach of 60% in office and 40% home-working.
Salary
The salary range for the post is between £35,582 up to £37,675 per annum.
