ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the National Charity of the British Army. The Soldiers’ Charity began in 1944 as the Army Benevolent Fund and rebranded in 2010 to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. With help from the public, we support soldiers, former soldiers and their immediate family who need our help, either by supporting individuals directly or through our partner delivery charities.

The Soldiers’ Charity is recruiting for the role of Briefing Liaison Officer (BLO), South-West. Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to start in April/May 2023, for an initial two-year fixed term contract. The role includes briefing and close liaison, with a range of audiences, on the work of the charity and establishing and maintaining relationships with veterans, local Army and Army Cadet units and helping our volunteer fundraisers, as well as assisting with the delivery of fundraising events and other Charity activities, and occasionally leading on developing new fundraising ideas.

You must possess strong interpersonal skills, be well organised and have an easy yet confident manner to be able to establish and maintain successful relationships. You will be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a regional team whilst applying your persuasive, engaging character and project management strengths. Connectivity into local political, administrative, public, and private organisations is desirable for this role.

The role will be based primarily out of our office in Bulford and will require extensive travel throughout the South-West. At all times, a full driving licence is essential with the requirement to drive a charity van.

Candidates should be IT literate with a well-developed understanding of social media tools. Although experience of fundraising and/or the voluntary sector would be desirable, training would be provided for the successful candidate, if necessary.

This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week. However, candidates who wish do work part-time will be considered. The starting salary is competitive with annual leave starting at 30 days and competitive benefits after a probation period of 6 months.

The closing date is Friday 10 March 2023 with interviews taking place on Thursday 16 March 2023. All interviews will take place in Bulford, Wiltshire.
