AFF – Head of Communications

 

About the role

Head of Communications is a new position within the AFF. As the AFF communications expert the post holder will lead the organisation’s communications activities, developing and delivering the overall communications strategy and annual communications plan (internal and external). The role will be responsible for ensuring that the AFF profile and influence is raised and maintained with families and chain of command and ensuring that our AFF research and policy work has a wide impact.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the post-holder will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of the communications team. This role is pivotal in supporting the organisation and Executive Management Boards (EMB) strategic aims.

The post is full-time (based on 37.5 hours per week) 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday. The role is based at our Central Office in Andover with some travel to other locations within the UK to fulfil the role responsibilities.

What we’re looking for

If you are the appointed Head of Communications you will have experience of: leading and managing communication teams; working in a senior communications role or equivalent; delivering an internal or external communications campaign; working with the media, in particular managing content for radio and newspapers; delivering an internal or external communications campaign; managing and developing web content; knowledge and experience (in an employment context) of e-communications, including social media platforms.
