AFF – Regional Manager – North & Central

About the role

This is a varied and busy role, and the post holder will play a key part in ensuring that Army families have an effective voice, and access to information and guidance which empowers them.  The post holder is the team leader and has direct line management responsibility for AFF’s North and Central team, comprised of five home based local co-ordinators. It is also AFF’s engagement lead with the Army chain of command, local authorities, and other local bodies across North and Central England, and East Anglia.  As such, the post holder will be required to travel across the area on a regular basis. In addition, the role works alongside four other Regional Managers reporting to the UK & Overseas Director, and forms part of a leadership team which guides, supports and co-ordinates the work of AFF’s 23 family facing co-ordinators based in the UK and overseas. As such, occasional travel to AFF Central Office in Andover, and events in London and Basingstoke is required.

The post is full time, based on 37.5 hours per week with an annual salary of £26,364 per annum gross. The post holder will be home-based, ideally within one-hour’s drive of Catterick Garrison.

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate will have experience of: line management, particularly of remote and/or home based teams; working effectively in a team; preparing and confidence in delivering presentations and/or training; an understanding and current knowledge of Army life and its impact on families; an understanding of the impact of military and Government policies on Army families, and the role of the Armed Forces Covenant; an ability to work on own initiative and outside of a formal office environment; clarity of expression both verbally and in writing; a good working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook; good listening and interpersonal skills and; and understanding of principles of client confidentiality.
