Anxious Minds set to launch Veteran Recovery Colleges in Northumberland and Durham in early 2026

In 2024, Anxious Minds secured funding from the Veterans’ Foundation to recruit and place a dedicated outreach worker in Northumberland. This strategic investment has significantly strengthened our veteran-focused provision across the region. As a result, our Blyth Counselling Services have expanded to include tailored support specifically for veterans and their families, addressing not only mental health challenges but also wider issues such as social isolation, transition, and access to specialist resources.

Building on this success, we are proud to be establishing the Northumberland Veteran Recovery College, which is scheduled to open later this year. This pioneering initiative will offer structured educational and therapeutic programmes co-designed with veterans, aiming to promote recovery, resilience, and community reintegration.

Looking ahead, we are already in active discussions with Durham County Council and local veteran organisations to replicate this model in County Durham, with plans underway to open a second Recovery College there in early 2026. By expanding our services and working collaboratively with regional partners, Anxious Minds is building a robust, veteran-led support network across the Northeast, ensuring that those who have served and their families have access to the specialist help they deserve.
