  • Are you passionate about the education of children?
  • Do you have empathy for the Armed Forces and commitment to the cause of helping children whose education may be disadvantaged as a result of the circumstances of their parents’ service?
  • Would you like to be part of our team of Trustees working to improve the lives of Forces Children?

The Armed Forces Education Trust is a national grant-giving charity dedicated to supporting service children in education. To find out more about us please click here.

We are currently seeking to recruit 2-3 Trustees.  Candidates must show commitment to the aims of the Trust and be keen to help Forces Children. We would expect a successful candidate to have good independent judgement, strategic vision, a willingness to contribute to our work and demonstrate integrity.

The Trustees wish to invite applications from the widest range possible of applicants:  the primary requirements are wise judgement, broad experience and common sense. Knowledge of the primary or secondary education sectors would be desirable, as would some understanding of the Armed Forces.

The Trust is professionally run and the Board, with specialist advice, is closely involved in the background to cases and decisions. Trustees will have up to 5 standing meetings a year, normally in London, with additional virtual meetings as required. Trustees are not remunerated but reasonable expenses are paid.

Closing date 31 October 2023. Interviews in person in London on 21 November 2023.
