***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***
Trustees for Grant Giving Charity.
Approximately 6 meetings per year.
The Armed Forces Education Trust is a charity working for children and young adults whose education has been compromised or put at risk as a result of parents’ past or current service in the Armed Forces.
The grants we give make a difference to young lives, helping improve their educational opportunities or supporting special skills or talents. We help individual children and also make collective grants to education establishments with a high proportion of service pupils.
We currently seek to recruit at least two trustees. Candidates must show commitment to the vision and values of the Trust, empathy for the Armed Services and the cause of helping children whose education may be compromised as a result of the circumstances of their parents’ service, and demonstrate integrity, strategic vision, good independent judgement and a willingness to contribute to our work.
Knowledge of the primary or secondary education sector and their funding would be an advantage, as would some understanding of the Armed Services.
The Trust’s principal asset is a school in Hampstead. We would therefore also be interested to talk to any interested individual with specialist knowledge of the property sector.
The Trust is professionally run, but the Board, with specialist advice, is closely involved in the background to cases and decisions. Trustees meet normally in London and meetings are held at least six times per year. Trustees are not remunerated but reasonable expenses are paid.
