Army Central Fund – New Director Appointed

The Trustees of the Army Central Fund, the British Army’s own grant-making charity, are delighted to announce the appointment of Caroline Crewe-Read as the ACF’s new Director. Caroline will bring her extensive expertise to the appointment having served in roles across the charitable, public and private sectors.

Previously Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy at Historic England, Caroline has recently completed an MA in Philanthropic Studies at the University of Kent. She is a Committee Member in Wales for the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and is a Commissioner, and Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee, at the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.

Reacting to her appointment Caroline said:

‘’I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to lead the work of the Army Central Fund and use my skills and experience to help contribute to the wellbeing of serving Army personnel and their families. I have worked in the field of philanthropy throughout my career and have been an Army spouse for nearly 20 of those years. I am very much looking forward to using this combination of knowledge and understanding to increase the impact of the ACF’s grantmaking.”

“In early December Caroline will take over the role from Julian Panton who is retiring after over 10 years in the post. He said ‘’Running the Army Central Fund has been a fantastic job which I have enjoyed from start to finish. I congratulate Caroline on her selection and wish her all the very best. I know the charity will continue to go from strength to strength under its new Director.”
