As part of a small team, you will provide advice to Army family members on health and additional needs issues. If you have an understanding and knowledge of Army life and the challenges families face, with good listening and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a remote team, then AFF needs you!
About the role
You’ll be the first point of contact for Army family members seeking advice on health and additional needs issues. You will provide support and advice to them, helping them to access appropriate support from our Specialists.
You will support Army family members in accessing relevant information by ensuring that the information on the health and additional needs pages of our website is kept up-to-date and liaising with the Communications team to make any changes.
You will also play a critical part in ensuring the Specialist has the evidence to raise emerging issues with policy makers.
The post is 20 hours per week and a home-based role (UK only). Unfortunately, due to the difficulties obtaining employer’s liability insurance overseas, it is not possible to offer this role to a candidate based outside the UK. The annual salary will be £12,500.
This post is a fixed-term two-year contract due to the role being funded by a specific grant from an external funder to support our health and additional needs work over the next few years. There is no guarantee that the post will continue beyond May 2025.
What we are looking for
You’ll have an understanding of the impact of Service life on Army families and a keen interest in the welfare and quality of life of Army families, particularly when related to health and additional needs issues.
You’ll be confident helping family members with their enquiries, with first-rate listening skills and the ability to provide clear information and advice. You will be skilled in prioritising your workload and using your time effectively to be able to manage multiple enquiries or areas of work. Given this is a home-based role, you will be self-motivated and able to use your initiative to undertake work. You will be an effective team player.
Ideally, you will have previous experience and knowledge of health and additional needs issues, including within the devolved administrations.
