About the role
Supporting the Money & Allowances Specialist, the Money & Allowances Assistant will play a critical part in helping families with their enquiries on money and military allowances issues and ensuring the Specialist has the evidence to raise emerging issues with policy makers.
The role will be the first point of contact for Army families with queries relating to money and allowances, referring enquirers to appropriate sources of help and information, or to the Specialist for more complex enquiries.
They will collate information and evidence from our database and use these to identify emerging issues to the Specialist.
They will ensure that families have up-to-date information on the money and allowances pages of our website.
The post is part-time (20 hours a week). This is a home-based role (UK only). All staff are required to attend staff training, usually held in the South East twice a year, involving overnight stays and travel. The annual salary will be £11,013.
Unfortunately, as a small independent charity, the additional cost of employing someone outside the UK, and particularly obtaining employer’s liability insurance, mean that it is not possible to offer this role to a non-UK based candidate.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will have an understanding of the impact of Service life on Army families and a keen interest in the welfare and quality of life of Army families.
They will be confident helping families with their enquiries, with first-rate listening skills and the ability to provide clear information and advice. They will be skilled in prioritising their workload and using their time effectively to be able to manage multiple enquiries or areas of work. Given this is a home-based role, they will be self-motivated and able to use their initiative to undertake work.
We would welcome candidates who have knowledge and understanding of Army and MOD allowances and money issues that affect families and who are effective team players.
