SSAFA

Bags of money raised by Aramark for SSAFA

An astonishing £63,000 was raised in 2021 by food service provider Aramark Defence Services, which has a charitable partnership with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. It brings the total raised since the partnership began to more than £100,000.

The £63,000 for SSAFA was raised by several charitable activities across the UK, including:

• A team from Aramark raising more than £1,200 by taking part in the 13 Bridges Challenge
• Donations through sale of carrier bags across the company’s 42 Premier convenience stores
• Rounding up donations at till points across its stores
• Sale of Christmas cards
• Staff fundraising across the 60 major defence establishments that Aramark manages

Sam Nowell, SSAFA’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, added:

“On behalf of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity I’ve got to give a big shout out to Aramark and its staff for this amazing effort and the amount raised.

“It’s only because of funds raised that SSAFA, the UK’s oldest tri-service charity, can carry on its work of providing practical, emotional, and financial support to our Forces and their families. Aramark’s support means SSAFA can be there for people in need, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts or are still currently serving, and their families – any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us.”

Helen Milligan-Smith, Managing Director for Aramark UK, said:

“The team at Aramark UK are proud to have raised over £100,000 for SSAFA through sales, donations, and the fantastic fundraising efforts of our Aramark Defence Service employees.

Our team support over 300 military sites across the UK and we know just how vital the work of SSAFA is supporting individuals at all stages of their military career. We look forward to continuing to raise funds and supporting SSAFA, growing our partnership in the future.”
