Blesma – Head of Welfare Support

Are you an experienced safeguarding professional and senior manager looking for a new challenge in the military charity sector who wants to make a difference in the veteran’s community?

We are looking for a permanent full-time Head of Welfare Support to contribute their safeguarding and managerial experience, professional knowledge, drive and enthusiasm to lead Blesma’s day to day safeguarding operations and act as the Deputy Director of Independence and Wellbeing within a very busy membership focused Association.

The role is head office based in Chelmsford and will be a varied one.  Focusing primarily on running the national operational safeguarding programme for Blesma as its designated safeguard lead, advising front line staff, managing referrals and developing and maintaining our policies, procedures and an effective external safeguarding network.   The role requires a person who is a self-starter, a committed team player, friendly, compassionate, confident who enjoys taking the initiative and is calm under pressure with a demonstrable strong commitment to veterans’ welfare.

This role will involve working collaboratively across the Association and with other key external safeguarding partners to ensure Blesma’s welfare support programmes and services are delivered in line with current statutory regulations and best practice.

Blesma is unique as a membership Association as well as a charity.  Our members are at the heart of all our work, their safety and those who support them, therefore, the impact of the Head of Welfare Support will be highly visible and crucial to the sound governance within the Association.
