£21,000 – £23,000 pro rata
Main purposes of job
Training of dogs, veterans and puppy socialisers
Record keeping and monitoring and updating of records for dog welfare, vet registration and any other ancillary issues
Ensuring the well-being of BRAVEHOUND dogs and puppies
Key tasks / objectives
- Training of BRAVEHOUNDS as required, using positive reinforcement methods
- Working with the Head of Training on planning training and progress of each dog
- Assisting Head of Training as required with visits and assessments
- Logging and communicating contact with veterans/puppy walkers/others with team and line manager
- Provide weekly lesson plans and progress reports as per agreed scheme of work
- Liaising with Operations Coordinator regarding database, including work with database provider when requested.
- Liaising with Operations Coordinator at a minimum on a weekly basis but also as and when required
- As part of the assessment team, assessing suitability of veterans for a BRAVEHOUND dog and working with veterans within the agreed frameworks
- As part of the assessment team, maintaining contact with veterans awaiting a dog
- Arranging introduction meetings between the veteran and their intended support dog in conjunction with the Head of Training
- Following up on applications from veterans, volunteers and supporters, gaining core information about each client to ensure their needs and goals are met
- Take part in regular CPD, including mental health training, canine behaviour training and other courses, as instructed by Head of Training/Director

Necessary/Desirable Qualifications
Minimum 2 years as a dog trainer, Dog Training Qualification, Driving Licence, Mental Health First Aid, Awareness of Veteran Needs (PTSD awareness), Veterinary First Aid
