As the original pioneers, BuildForce is the industry’s largest and most successful nationwide programme, supporting thousands of our ex-military community, into long-term trade and professional careers within the construction industry and wider built environment.
BuildForce is a community interest company by constitution (not-for-profit) providing a career service and support of our Armed Forces community; to address the labour, skills and diversity shortages we have in the construction industry.
What the role would involve:
Our team of 9 work from home and are based throughout the UK, with the role being flexible to meet your current commitments or needs. If you are reskilling, this role allows you to be introduced to a new role in a safe and supportive environment.
Some key elements of the role include:
- Career support for our military community during their resettlement period from the Armed Forces.
- Support our hard-to reach/ long term unemployed veterans, back into employment.
- Support of our military spouses/military families in the employment space.
- Mentor matching and sourcing work placements with our industry employers.
- Uploading CVs to employer portals (all training provided), to allow our military community to source employment opportunities with our members.
- Employer Account Management – acting as the main BuildForce POC for a portion of our industry employers to address their requirements around social value, ex-military support, recruitment needs to address their skills and labour shortages, and support with their military events.
The key skills we require are effective communication, awareness of the construction industry and ability to lead and guide those we support.

Role details:
The role will be working remotely from home around 32-48 hours per week (with your own laptop, most tasks on Word, Excel and Outlook). The hours can be split over several days during the week. There is an opportunity for the role to grow. Ideally the individual would be self-employed (we can provide support with this). Hourly rate negotiable on experience. We host events throughout the year, and it would be great if you could attend and meet our military community and industry employers direct (all expenses covered).
The role would report to our Senior Support Manager, Kathleen Cargil and sit within the operations team.
