China Fleet Trust launches Fundraising Gala to expand support for Royal Navy Community

The China Fleet Trust, a charity with roots dating back to 1901 and originally funded by Sailors and Royal Marines serving in Hong Kong, has announced the official launch of the China Fleet Trust Fund at its inaugural Fundraising Gala Dinner.

This landmark event marks a new chapter for the charity, which has long provided welfare, respite, and support to Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Maritime Reserves personnel, veterans, and their families. The Fund aims to deliver an even greater level of assistance to those who serve and their loved ones.

Rear Admiral John Weale CB OBE, Chair of Trustees, commented:

“The China Fleet Trust has always strived to support its beneficiaries to the best of its ability. The launch of the China Fleet Trust Fund is an important step forward, enabling us to extend that support even further. We are deeply grateful for the presence of the Minister of State for Defence, Luke Pollard MP, and for the commitment shown by both the Minister and the First Sea Lord to the work of the Charity.”

Gordon Hannah, Chief Executive, China Fleet Trust, added:

“Tonight’s gala is more than a celebration—it is the beginning of a new chapter for the China Fleet Trust. Our mission has always been to provide welfare, respite, and support to the Royal Navy family, and this Fund will allow us to extend that reach even further. We are honoured to have such strong backing from our partners and leaders, and we invite everyone to join us in making a lasting difference for those who give so much.”
