Combat Stress

Combat Stress – PR & Communications Officer

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Status: Permanent

Salary: Band 5, £22,681-29,466 per annum dependent on experience, plus a 5% fringe allowance

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours

Based at our Head Office in Leatherhead, Surrey, KT22 0BX

Combat Stress was established in 1919. We are the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For almost a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Today we provide UK-wide support to veterans from every service and every conflict, on the phone and online, in the community and at our treatment centres. We’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to take on the future.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PR and Communications Officer to join our dynamic team, liaising with colleagues across the country.  You will work closely with Communications and Fundraising colleagues to raise the profile of Combat Stress in print, broadcast and online media, in order to expand our reach to new audiences, support our fundraising activities and raise awareness of Combat Stress and veterans’ mental health.

A proactive self-starter, you work well in a team and have experience developing successful media campaigns.  You will be able to demonstrate your experience in managing the whole spectrum of media relations including writing press releases, pitching and securing media coverage, setting up media interviews, preparing colleagues for media interviews and commissioning photography and/or video content.

What we offer

You will work within a charity that has a fantastic cause and committed follower base.

In addition, we offer the following benefits;

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with an increase upon 5 years of continuous service
  • competitive stakeholder pension scheme – contributions matched up to 10%
  • childcare vouchers
  • discounted healthcare cash plan
  • discounted shopping and gym membership
  • free on-site parking or shuttle from Leatherhead Station
  • cycle to work scheme
  • a wide range of other employee benefits
