Combat Stress is the UK’s leading mental health charity for veterans, providing free specialist clinical treatment and support to ex-servicemen and women across the UK with mental health conditions.

We treat conditions including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. We provide a range of free services including short-stay clinical treatment, a specialist PTSD Intensive Treatment Programme, Occupational Therapy, Community support and a free 24-hour Helpline.

This is an exciting time to join Combat Stress as we undergo an organisation-wide strategic review and anticipate new opportunities to increase income from trusts and foundations. As such, an opportunity has arisen in our growing Trusts and Foundations team for the new post of Senior Trusts and Foundations Officer.

Working in an upbeat and dynamic fundraising department, you will report to the Trusts and Foundations Manager and contribute towards one of the charity’s most successful income streams. You will be responsible for maximising income for the charity by managing an established portfolio of medium-to-large trusts and foundations and seeking new opportunities. You will work closely with internal colleagues to develop persuasive and tailored applications, and external stakeholders to develop key relationships in order to meet the funding needs of the charity.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a keen eye for detail. You will ideally have a minimum of three years’ experience working for a charity in a trusts role, presenting a compelling case for support to funders and a successful track record of securing grants. An affinity with the work of Combat Stress will also be a key factor in securing this role, as this will be evident in your work and with your interaction with funders.

What we offer

You will work within a charity that is growing and evolving at an exponential rate for the climate and one that has a fantastic cause and committed follower base.

Combat Stress operate a salary scale which works similarly to the NHS Agenda for Change system.  We enhance the scale by 1.5% and have an annual appraisal framework and appraisal system to support training and development opportunities.
