Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Benevolent Fund – Trustees (several roles)

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Unremunerated voluntary position

12-15 days / year (5 x board meetings, events and ad hoc work and support)

The DMRC Benevolent Fund exists to provide essential welfare and social rehabilitation opportunities to service personnel who find themselves recovering from life changing injuries and illness whilst in active service. By offering support to staff and welfare provision to patients through social events, social amenities and sporting and adventurous training, we aim to complement and enhance medical interventions aimed at achieving optimal outcomes for patients.

The activities of the DMRC Ben Fund are: to sponsor holistic initiatives that integrate and support DMRC patient’s physical and psychological rehabilitation. The fund operates beyond the limitations of the public purse by providing specialist equipment; small grants; staff initiatives and occupational, social and adventurous activities so as to enhance and maximise DMRC’s rehabilitation outcomes.

We would like to invite applications to a number of vital Trustee positions on our board of trustees

Trustees are needed to bring experience and expertise to our team of volunteer trustees as we seek to implement our strategy and delivery of our leadership and management approach. We are ideally looking for previous experience at executive and non-executive board level especially in fundraising, brand and marketing communications and strategy implementation.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the holistic rehabilitation of our armed forces and help those who serve our country. Previous military experience is not required although we are keen to receive applications for some roles from former patients and retired military personnel who have had a life-changing illness or injury. It is our aim to fill our desired board of ten trustees by the end of March 2024.

The rewards from working with the DMRC Ben Fund are immense – we work on the front line of defence rehabilitation, and we are always busy. Our Trustees and committee members are a passionate group of volunteers, drawn from military and civilian backgrounds. Moreover, relationships between Unit, Board, Committee and beneficiaries are very strong.

We are committed to increasing the diversity of our teams in all parts of the charity. This means we are particularly interested in applications from women, people from ethnic minority groups and those with different accessibility needs.
