Fighting With Pride’s letter to Lord Paddick and Julie Grugel following the Town Hall of 21 May 2025

Yesterday almost 200 members of the LGBT Veterans community met with Lord Paddick the Chair of the Independent Panel and Julie Grugel (on Thursday 22 May) who is leading the team heading up the Financial Reparations Scheme. The answers we received were far from satisfactory.

There is real anger and disappointment at the pace that the Financial Reparations are being delivered to our LGBT Veterans.

As a Charity, on behalf of the LGBT Veterans we are working with, we have today written to Lord Paddick and Julie Grugel, and we set out a copy of that letter below.

We understand how emotionally tortuous this is for our Veterans, and we want to repeat that our Veteran Community Workers and their network of support is available to you.

We would urge every LGBT Veteran to raise these shocking delays with their own local Member of Parliament.

– Write to your MP – A template letter is provided below.
– Attend a Surgery Appointment to let your MP know about the delays you are experiencing
– Visit Parliament – if you are able- and ask to see your MP to lobby them in person.
– Write to your Local Newspaper and raise the profile of the situation.

Fighting With Pride are coordinating a range of activities to highlight these delays, and all your voices are essential to see this action delivered.
