Job Purpose
To work as part of a team providing psychological wellbeing support to our beneficiaries. Responsibilities range from psychological wellbeing triage and assessment, delivering psychological wellbeing support on an individual and group basis, routine monitoring of effectiveness of interventions, through to in situ psychological wellbeing support to beneficiaries on participating in recovery activities
Accountabilities
- Assessment, formulation, and treatment planning for clients referred into the Psychological Wellbeing Service (PWS) up to Step 3 level of support; referring on or signposting to alternative agencies and to the charity’s other Recovery specialisms when additional need is identified
- Generate individual Risk Support Plans for beneficiaries based upon psychological wellbeing assessments enabling wider recovery teams to support beneficiaries to safely participate in a variety of recovery activities
- Offer time limited counselling interventions with an appropriate caseload of individual therapy clients and deliver group psycho-educational support programmes that have been co-produced and developed within the PWS
- Deliver evidence-based counselling interventions as outlined in the Service
- Delivery Framework, maintaining good quality clinical case notes throughout as well as support in gathering and reporting clinical outcomes and service evaluation data
Main Responsibilities
- Perform psychological wellbeing assessments integrating the use of both qualitative and quantitative (psychometric measures) information
- To work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Communicate clinical information clearly to both clinical and non-clinical members of the team
- To perform assessments and engage in case conference meetings to review and agree assessment outcomes and next steps for beneficiary support
- To maintain accurate good quality clinical notes and service monitoring records in accordance with the Service Delivery Framework and high clinical practice standards
- To support the Psychological Wellbeing Team Manager in gathering and reporting clinical outcome and service evaluation reports
- To support other members of the PWS and Help for Heroes Recovery teams to generate the best possible outcomes and safe support for beneficiaries
- To hold a managed, time limited caseload of individual therapy clients supporting issues relevant to a Step 3 threshold of care
- To deliver evidence-based group psychoeducation programmes
- To engage in regular peer and individual clinical supervision
- To attend regular line management supervision where case management will be regularly discussed and reviewed
- Adhere to BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and our Professional Conduct Procedure, as well as the professional standards of any additional counselling or psychotherapy professional body of which you are a registered member
- To actively contribute to the development of a supportive and effective psychological wellbeing team and service
- To attend and positively participate in line management meetings, annual appraisals, monthly and quarterly team meetings etc as required
- Willingness to contribute to the charitable aims of the organisation
Essential Qualifications
- Have completed and graduated from a BACP accredited course, or professional counselling or psychotherapy training which includes:
- at least 450 hours of tutor contact hours
- at least two years (part-time) or one year (full-time)
- Be a BACP accredited counsellor. For existing employees, you must be eligible to apply for BACP accreditation within the next 6-9 months (from 1st October 2019).
- Current clinical work that you are offering to beneficiaries can contribute to your accreditation hours if you are attending and recording your required associated clinical supervision
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience in/willingness to work within a structured service delivery framework and within limits on scope and duration of service provision we are resourced to provide
- Ability to perform psychological wellbeing assessments to appropriately identify and support onward referral of individuals where their level of need or complexity falls outside the scope of available service provision
- To be highly skilled in communicating in a compassionate, ethical and supportive manner to service users who may be distressed or challenging
- Previous experience operating within a multi-disciplinary team
- Accredited status with BACP (or equivalent body such as the UKCP)
- Experience delivering group-based psychoeducation programmes or willingness to develop skills in group programme delivery
- Ability to interpret psychometric scores using common psychometric tools
- Desirable experience or training in compassion focussed therapy, ACT and/or
- Mindfulness based approaches
