Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes – Corporate Communications Manager

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

At Help for Heroes, we believe those who serve our country deserve support when they are wounded. Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds; their lives changed forever. We help them, and those still serving, to recover and get on with their lives.

And who are we you’re wondering? We are experts and beginners. Generalists and specialists. Ordinary people with an extraordinary passion towards making a positive change to the lives of our veterans (and having fun while doing it).

As One Team we share a philosophy – I.C.A.R.E. It’s the way we walk and talk, the way we interact with others and how we approach everything we do. We are:

Innovative – Collaborative – Authentic – Resourceful – Energetic.

We have an incredible opportunity for a CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER to join our team.

Please see below for more information on what just might be your future role.

About You

Are you passionate about helping our veterans and their loved ones live a fulfilling life after injury or illness?

Are you a friendly, confident character with excellent interpersonal skills?

Can you plan ahead whilst still able to work at a fast pace with changing priorities?

Are you able to complete work in a timely manner, meeting deadlines whilst able to manage upwards and downwards?

Do you have experience working under pressure and with changing priorities?

Do you have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as an interest in current affairs and an understanding of the different types of media outlets?

We need somebody with a positive attitude and a passion for the Help for Heroes cause to join our Communications team.

About the Role

The role is integral to the communications team and wider charity as it builds and protects Help for Heroes’ profile and reputation as the leading charity supporting wounded, injured and sick veterans in the UK. Responsibilities include setting the charity’s external messaging, producing engaging online content, writing press releases and reactive statements, stakeholder management, campaign support and identifying themes in the national news agenda that are relevant to our cause.

You will work closely with our veterans and their loved ones to help tell their inspiring stories to our key audiences and meet the aims of our communications strategy. You will also help to define and promote our Recovery Services and drive the Charity’s communications & thought leadership agenda.

About the Team

Being part of Team Help for Heroes is a huge privilege; you get to see the difference your work makes to the lives of those who sacrificed the most in service of their country. The PR and Communications Team is made up of 10 individuals, all from different working backgrounds including journalism, agency and government work. We are one team, all passionate about helping improve the lives of our wounded veterans and their families. We do so with great enthusiasm, commitment to the cause, and a dose of great humour. Joining Help for Heroes is genuinely like joining a family!
