Help for Heroes – Veterans Clinical Adviser

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Salary: up to £39,795 per annum

Location: Remote

Hours: 35 hours per week

Benefits: Competitive

Job Type: 12 Month FTC

Application Deadline: 22/12/2021

At Help for Heroes, we believe those who serve our country deserve support when they are wounded. Every day, men and women must leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds; their lives changed forever. We help them, and those still serving, to recover and get on with their lives. We give them physical, psychological, financial and welfare support for as long as they need it. We also support their families because they too can be affected by their loved one’s wounds.

We receive almost no funding from the Government, which means we rely on the spirit and generosity of the great British public, our partners, and volunteers to keep going. Rest assured; we continue to put pressure on the Government to do more.

So far, with your help, we have supported more than 25,000 people, but we know that many more still need us. We won’t stop until every wounded veteran gets the support they deserve.

We have an incredible opportunity for a Veterans Clinical Advisor to join our team -on a 12-month fixed contract. Please see below for more information on what just might be your future role.

About You

Are you a dynamic, positive, and determined Registered Nurse (Adult) with some experience of working with the Armed Forces Community or have knowledge of the environments where they have and currently operate?

Would you like to work as part of a caring and supportive team but trusted to work autonomously within the community environment?

Are you empathetic with the ability to quickly build rapport to understand our veterans and their family’s needs and expectations?

Do you enjoy being agile and resourceful in supporting people to navigate their own healthcare pathways to enable them to live safe, healthy, and purposeful lives within their own communities?

Do you appreciate the challenge of sourcing novel solutions and working collaboratively with other partners and organisations to deliver healthcare support?

Are you happy to embrace a flexible work pattern as this position will involve frequent travel and the occasional overnight stay to meet veterans in their own homes and communities and represent Help for Heroes at outreach and educational events?

Do you have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use cover? Have you experience working with databases and Microsoft Office?

About the Role

For a fixed term contract of 12 months, in this unique and exciting role you will manage your own caseload working alongside and with the support of the Veterans Community Nurse in your area. You will champion and seek in partnership with our veterans, personalised community healthcare solutions and act as their advocate when required. You will meet veterans in their own homes, communities, clinics and at Outreach events to fulfil this rewarding role.

You will also provide case management and delivery of professional support as part of a Multidisciplinary Team and provide clinical advice and support to the veterans, their families, and other Help for Heroes personnel.

An integral part of the role will be contributing to and presenting at Veterans’ healthcare educational events for General Practitioners and other Healthcare professionals. You will seek out opportunities to expand our services, keeping your ear to the ground, horizon scanning and to reach out and engage with veterans who may find travelling to or community events challenging.

You will be cognisant of Social Prescribing and the developing Primary Care networks in your area. You will be responsive and attuned to the ever-evolving healthcare arena and understand how healthcare is delivered by the NHS and other organisations throughout the UK.

About the Team

You will be a much-valued part of the energetic and innovative Clinical & Medical Service across the UK. We are resourceful in finding ways to deliver what is right and fair for our veterans in the healthcare domain.

As a collective Force for Good, we champion the Wounded, Injured and Sick as and when they transition to civilian life. We do this by establishing effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and learn from others, both inside and outside of Help for Heroes.

We see the bigger picture, focusing on ideas that deliver the best results for our veterans, and their family, and actively challenge, test, learn and adapt ideas, making them a reality.
