HMS Heron hosts Easter egg competition

Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, commonly referred to as RNAS Yeovilton, or HMS Heron, recently hosted SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity’s Easter egg competition.

The annual competition is organised by the local branch of SSAFA to raise awareness of the work that it does assisting service personnel and their families in times of need.

Patricia Hymas, SSAFA Yeovilton Chair said:

“Our service families live in this community and their children go to the local schools. It is really important to maintain links with the schools so that they know who to come to when a service child needs help. It’s also such a lovely activity for all the children, and their parents.”

Patricia judged the competition, which included entries from Ilchester Infant and Primary School, Wincanton Infant and Primary School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Wincanton, and Countess Gytha Infant and Primary School, Queen Camel. Easter Egg entries were judged class by class with the children’s ages ranging from between four to 11years old.

Chocolate Heron eggs were given out to everyone as prizes.
