Invitation to the CDARS Recovery Month Celebration

You are cordially invited to join us for ‘A Celebration of Recovery’, an event hosted by CDARS that will focus on and celebrate the challenging journey of recovery from substance abuse and mental health issues.

When: 12:00-17:00 Tuesday 19th September, 2023
Where: The Poppy Factory, 20 Petersham Rd, Richmond, TW10 6UR
The event is intended as a supportive platform for individuals and families affected by addiction and mental health issues, and will feature guest presentations by leading academics and health experts, offering first-hand expertise and insights.

It will provide an opportunity to explore and delve deep into the support structures, services, and resources that CDARS provides, and to understand more clearly the agency’s crucial role in the recovery process.

A highlight of the event is an exploration of the work of Dorothea Bickerton, who founded the support network that became CDARS, and whose approach to supporting those battling addiction continues to underpin its services today. A revised edition of Dorothea’s 2003 memoir recounting how substance abuse affected her family and led her to found CDARS, will be launched at the event, and members of her family will be present to talk about her work and legacy.

Refreshments and food cooked by our chef at the CDARS Community Kitchen will be available

We look forward to welcoming you as we come together to better understand the journey to recovery, and to highlight the significant role in that process played by support networks like CDARS.
