Military Wives Choirs present “An Evening of Song” – a moving tribute to connection, belonging, and life in the Armed Forces Community

Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre | Sunday 5 October 2025 | 7:30 PM

The renowned Military Wives Choirs, a network of more than 70 choirs across the UK and overseas, will bring their heartfelt and powerful performance, “An Evening of Song”, to the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre on Sunday 5 October 2025 at 7:30 PM.

Born from the acclaimed BBC documentary series with Gareth Malone, the Military Wives Choirs have become a symbol of strength, solidarity, and sisterhood among women connected to the Armed Forces. This special evening will showcase the emotional depth and musical excellence that have made the choirs a beloved and important part of the UK’s cultural landscape.

Audiences can expect a moving programme that blends well-known favourites from the choirs’ celebrated albums with some recently released tracks like November Sunday.  Through music and personal stories, the performance will explore how singing together helps these women navigate the unique challenges of military life—offering comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging.

The choir for this performance will feature 60 women from 20 choirs across the Military Wives Choirs network, coming together especially for this one-night-only event in Stamford.

This concert also marks the debut performance of Joanna Tomlinson, the newly appointed Artistic Director of the Military Wives Choirs. A highly respected conductor and vocal leader, Joanna brings fresh energy and vision to the role.

“You can expect a moving and passionate performance by these amazing women,” she says. “We’re thrilled to bring the spirit of the Military Wives Choirs to Stamford’s audience.”

Adding to the evening’s emotional resonance, the programme will include a special appearance by the Choir of Never Such Innocence, a charity that empowers young people to reflect on conflict through music and the arts. Their voices will offer a poignant counterpoint and a hopeful message for the future.

Tickets are available now from the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre box office and website. (https://www.stamfordcornexchange.co.uk/military-wives-choir/). Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of music, memory, and meaning.
