Veterans charity commissioned to chronicle the 160-year history of the Royal Military School of music at Kneller in South West London

Veterans Urged to Come Forward and Tell Their Stories

Following the MOD’s announcement that the Royal Military School of Music is to vacate its historic home at Kneller Hall in South West London, veterans’ charity The Legasee Educational Trust has been commissioned to chronicle over 160 years of military music tradition at the celebrated Grade II listed institution.

Supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and teaming up with local schoolchildren from Chase Bridge School in Twickenham, the Legasee Educational Trust will explore the illustrious history of The RMSM at Kneller Hall and examine the importance of music to the military effort.

Fantastic £5000 donation from The Jive Aces

Long-time supporters of the NFA, The Jive Aces, raised an astonishing £5000 for the Association through their record-breaking Summertime Swing concert in August 2017. Chief Executive James Stopford was thrilled to be presented with the cheque, at the NFA HQ in Victoria, by nearly the whole band. We are thrilled that this year’s Summertime Swing will once again be raising money for The NFA.

Scotland’s finest musicians commemorate Nurse Mary Mckinnon and the sinking of HM Hospital Ship Glenart Castle  

On the 25th February at 4pm Fauré’s Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine were be performed at St Mary’s church Arisaig to commemorate the life of Mary McKinnon, a nurse from Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service and the 62 souls who were lost at 4am on 26th February 1918 when HM Hospital Ship the Glenart Castle was torpedoed and sank in the Bristol Channel and those from the village of Arisaig who served in the First World War.

Spectacular Battle Proms Picnic Concert Joins Forces with SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity

Military themed spectacle raising money for personnel, veterans and their families

Tickets are now on sale for the Battle Proms, a spectacular series of open-air picnic concerts in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity working with personnel, veterans and their families.

Battle Proms is a summer celebration with live orchestral music, carefully choreographed Spitfire and parachute displays, dramatic cannon fire and cavalry displays with a spectacular musical firework finale. The annual spectacular is set to return to historical British venues this summer, due to popular demand.

The Mountbatten Festival of Music 2018

The Mountbatten Festival of Music is to change its performance times to enable more people the opportunity to attend this spectacular event. For the first time, 2018 will see a Saturday afternoon performance beginning at 2.00pm. It is hoped that this matinee performance will allow people to travel to London from all over the country and still be able to get home the same day. We also hope to attract younger people to the concert so why don’t you consider bringing the children or grandchildren.

Felix Fund to hold exhibition and auction of art by bomb disposal experts

Bomb disposal charity Felix Fund will hold its first art exhibition and auction of original works from 5th September 2017 to 8th October 2017.

Felix Fund, a charity providing welfare support and financial assistance to bomb disposal operatives, opens its first art exhibition at the Cornerstone, Didcot, on Tuesday 5th September. All the artwork which will go on display has been created by either serving military personnel or others with links to the bomb disposal community, making it a truly unique exhibition.

Felix Festival returns to raise funds for bomb disposal charity

The Felix Festival, a live music event that fundraises thousands of pounds for those affected by military and police careers in bomb disposal, is returning by popular demand on September 16 at Silchester in Hampshire.

The music event, organised on behalf of the charity Felix Fund which provides financial and wellbeing support to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel, is this year hoped to raise £30k — surpassing the £25k raised at Felix Festival 2015.

Poppies on the Prom comes to Mablethorpe

Mablethorpe Central Promenade will become a hub of activity on Sunday 13th August thanks to the Poppies on the Prom event.

Set to raise money for The Royal British Legion’s Mablethorpe Poppy Appeal, the summer time event welcomes visitors to enjoy an array of entertainment throughout the day. This includes a Battle of Britain fly past, Second World War Bake Off, tug of war, beach games, military vehicles and much more.
