Join Scottish CND as we host Qazaqstani human rights activist and filmmaker Aigerim Seitenova for a special online screening of her remarkable film “JARA: Radioactive Patriarchy”, which focuses on the multi-generational harms of Soviet nuclear test explosions in Qazaqstan.
A million and a half people were exposed to ionising radiation as a consequence of the 456 nuclear bombs detonated by the USSR in Qazaqstan, with women and girls suffering especially severe health impacts as a consequence.
We are also joined by atomic veteran activists and founder of Labrats Alan Owen, who will speak about the legacy of British nuclear tests and the generational harms suffered by British service personel by nuclear test explosions.
Join us to reflect on the disastrous worldwide nuclear testing regime and the 80 years of nuclear harms since the first test in 1945.
