Alabaré are delighted to be marking the 75th anniversary of VE Day with a community celebration – ‘Petals for Peace’.
The South West-based charity that supports the homeless and vulnerable are looking to bring communities together through the Coronavirus outbreak by encouraging craft minded individuals to create displays of ‘Petals for Peace’.
Made up from paper templates, the completed petals will then form picturesque displays designed to bring people together at this difficult time whilst remembering 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the War in Europe.
With stay at home street parties expected across the nation, Alabaré are calling on people to decorate their front windows with displays of Petals for Peace, and share photographs of their displays online using the hashtag #PetalsForPeace during the run-up to VE 75 Day (8 to 10 May).
All funds raised from Petals for Peace will go to Alabaré’s Emergency Appeal, supporting homeless and vulnerable people who are particularly vulnerable to Coronavirus.

“The 75th anniversary of VE Day marks an important moment as we commemorate the end of the Second World War in Europe. We feel that it is necessary to mark this momentous occasion with a celebration that not only reflects on those who sacrificed so much then but also helps to support Veterans in need now.”
