The Lady Haig Poppy Factory is a wholly owned subsidiary of Poppyscotland and both organisations have been part of The Royal British Legion group of charities since 2011.The Poppy Factory has a workforce of 40 ex-Servicemen and women, the majority of whom are disabled. Whilst a commercial organisation, it is also a charity that provides dignity through work. The factory manufactures all poppies for the Scottish Poppy Appeal as well as making and selling Poppy Wreaths commercially.
We are seeking to recruit an Accounts Assistant whose primary responsibilities will be to assist the Factory Accountant with all financial related duties. The main responsibilities include:
- preparing and processing sales invoices,
- recording sales receipts,
- banking, reconciliation and cash flow monitoring,
- preparing purchase payments by BAC’s,
- processing purchase invoices,
- recording stock production,
- processing payroll and miscellaneous payroll payments,
- preparing period end,
- preparing debtor control,
- assisting with month end and year end processes,
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience of working in a finance role
- Good standard of education
- Ability to use computerised Finance systems as well as Microsoft Word and Excel
- A hard-working and motivated professional attitude with the desire to maintain and improve standards
- A positive and cooperative attitude with empathy for and an understanding of the workforce
- The ability to manage time to meet deadlines and prioritise work
- An understanding or experience of the military is desirable but not essential
