The RAF Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. We work closely with partner organisations, including other military charities, and have a strong bond with our donors and supporters, giving us the confidence to deliver for our beneficiaries when they need us.

With thousands of members across the UK and further afield, plus hundreds of dedicated employees and volunteers, we have the network and experience needed for a personal one-to-one approach. We work together to make sure no one is ever left behind.

What to expect from the role

The Branch, Member and Wellbeing Officer (BMWO) is central to achieving the Association’s purpose, ensuring we reach and support those in need, through close links with our membership and branch network.   The role focuses on the wellbeing of members, with specific responsibility for the management and development of localised wellbeing engagement and activity within their geographical area of responsibility.   The role is also pivotal in contributing to the development, implementation and delivery of the Association’s overarching wellbeing strategy. You’ll be working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders including our Clubs Development Manager, Branch Governance Officer and regional casework teams, in addition to forging strong links with members, branches, volunteers and third-party organisations.

How you can make a difference

As a confident and influential networker, you will thrive in developing relationships with our members and branches. Experienced in embracing and driving change in pursuit of excellence, you will be providing guidance and oversight to ensure effective and consistent working practices to enable the provision of high-quality wellbeing services. Along with supporting branches to meet their governance and legislative requirements you will be instrumental in pursuing opportunities to increase the sustainability and viability of branches.

About You

Whilst a military background would be desirable, it is not an essential requirement.  Ideally you will hold a Level 5 qualification, or equivalent experience in management, leadership, sales or marketing with strong experience of relationship management techniques. With excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to motivate, persuade and influence others through a period of change, you’ll be accomplished at communicating complex concepts and ideas with clarity and passion. You will be adept at working to and meeting stretching targets with an ability to interpret business information/budgets and apply these to practice.  Able to analyse and interpret complex information, you’ll be able to identify recommendations to improve the quality along with experience of financial planning, monitoring, and budgetary control of multiple streams.

The post holder will be home based (Central / Midlands) and will undertake frequent travel support members and branches. Due to the nature of the role, the post holder will be required to undertake a DBS check.
