The RAF (Royal Air Force) Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. About the role

The Club Engagement Officer is central to achieving the Association’s purpose, ensuring we reach and support those in need, through close links with our club network. The role is pivotal in contributing to the development, implementation, and delivery of the Association’s overarching comradeship and wellbeing strategy. The role focuses on developing and supporting the Association’s clubs’ network, supporting our club and branch volunteers to develop and deliver within a challenging and ever-evolving environment.  

This role involve collaborative working with a large number of stakeholders through various directorates of the Association. You will have responsibilities which include providing guidance and oversight to the Association’s clubs to support the delivery of high-quality wellbeing services as well as focusing on the opportunity to increase sustainability and viability of clubs. You will be the subject lead in supporting clubs with alcohol licensing, gaming licensing, and managing private members clubs.  Longer term, you will be contributing to the review, design and implementation of a club strategy and property strategy, including developing procedures and practice to comply with best practice principles and legislative requirements. 

About you

It is essential that you have evidenced work experience in pub/club management and hospitality or relevant leadership in complimentary industry. Crucially you will have an up to date working knowledge of club licencing, along with solid relationship management skills. This is a role where you will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate, persuade and influence others to embrace change to ensure club compliance. Whilst an understanding of charity governance is highly desirable, it is not essential as training will be provided to the ideal candidate. You will have experience of working to and meeting stretching targets and an ability to interpret business information/budgets and apply these to practice.

Overall, we are looking for a dynamic and driven individual who can contribute to our ongoing clubs development strategy whilst at the same time adapting their style to a wide range of audiences, some of whom may require additional support in understanding club compliance.
