About us

The RAF Association is one of the leading providers of welfare assistance to the RAF community and we exist to ensure that their sacrifice does not result in suffering, poverty, loneliness or isolation. Loneliness is painfully common in the RAF community. After years of camaraderie in a close knit community, many find it difficult to adapt to life beyond service, particularly when former comrades pass on and family members move away. ‘Connections for Life’ is the new way that the RAF Association is delivering a telephone friendship service by matching beneficiaries with our volunteers, working tirelessly to connect those in need with a telephone friend to help them feel less isolated, which is especially acute during the current pandemic.

About the team

You will be joining a team of energetic and passionate individuals at an exciting time in our development and growth. Connections Administrators help to recruit and select the individuals applying for the Association’s varied volunteering roles. You will be involved in the advertising, application, interview and selection processes, including processing DBS checks, to select volunteers appropriate to meet the demands of the role they are applying for. Placing our beneficiaries at the heart of everything we do, the Connections Administrator will also provide information and support to anyone using the Connections for Life service, working collaboratively with the Connections Coordinators to help match beneficiaries with volunteers and keep everyone informed. You will be part of a committed team and achieve the real satisfaction of being a significant part of providing Connections for Life services and seeing the difference this makes to the RAF community we support.

About you

This is a role which requires creativity, drive, inventiveness, and a positive attitude to working with a variety of people at all levels. Ideally you will have experience of recruiting others by using a formal process along with a good understanding of the value that volunteers bring to an organisation. You will have a confident, professional and warm telephone manner to enable you to engage with a diverse range of people   You will be a confident networker able to motivate and establish a great rapport with individuals. You will identify and follow up all opportunities to recruit volunteers and be responsible for conducting telephone interviews to ensure prospective volunteers are a ‘good fit’ for our beneficiaries. Working collaboratively with colleagues you will provide access to training for volunteers and ensure they are ready to be deployed in a timely way. In addition, you will provide ongoing support and recognition of all volunteers and help to keep them consulted and informed about our work and ensure their training and DBS (or equivalent) checks remain up to date. . A high level of administration skills are required which include working with complex databases and Microsoft Office packages along with knowledge of current GDPR processes
