RAF Association – Connections Coordinator

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

Salary: £21375 – £22500 37.5 hours per week worked Monday – Friday

About us

The RAF Association is one of the leading providers of welfare assistance to the RAF community and we exist to ensure that their sacrifice does not result in suffering, poverty, loneliness or isolation. Loneliness is painfully common in the RAF community. After years of camaraderie in a close knit community, many find it difficult to adapt to life beyond service, particularly when former comrades pass on and family members move away.

‘Connections for Life’ is the new way that the RAF Association is delivering a telephone friendship service by matching beneficiaries with our volunteers, working tirelessly to connect those in need with a telephone friend to help them feel less isolated, which is especially acute during the current pandemic.

About the team

The Connections for Life team is an energetic committed team who are passionate about the induction, deployment and stewardship of circa 250 amazing telephone friendship volunteers. The CFL Coordinators display high levels of empathy, emotional intelligence and resilience as some conversations with our beneficiaries happen when they feel at their most vulnerable. By listening and understanding the beneficiaries’ needs, we will match them with a suitable volunteer who will provide ongoing telephone friendship. You will be joining us at an exciting time in our development and growth, working within an encouraging and inspiring environment with ongoing training and support for personal development

About you

Ideally you will have previous experience in a customer focused role, or be able to demonstrate transferrable skills which fit this job role. A large part of the CFL Coordinator role will be assisting volunteers with any guidance or support they need to enable them to undertake their role and to resolve any day to day or complex welfare issues they approach you for assistance with. You will speak to beneficiaries of the Connections for Life service in a compassionate and patient way to understand how you can best support their needs with the volunteers you will deploy. You will have a high level of communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM databases along with a proven track record of managing large amounts of diverse and complex information. Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, are integral to the role.

It is highly recommended that you read the supporting job description and person specification prior to applying for the role. We make shortlisting decisions based on the evidence within your application form which demonstrates specifically that you have relevant skills and experience required.
