About the role
The role of Head of Human Resources is central to the success of the RAF Association. Staff represent the cornerstone of the Association’s work to achieve its purpose, to support the welfare and wellbeing by charitable means of the RAF community, and the Head of Human Resources is essential in supporting this. The role will lead the HR team in its delivery of the Association’s strategy of recruiting, supporting and developing our staff and the post holder will be responsible for the management and leadership of all HR functions, including payroll, across the whole of the Group (in particular RAFAKidz), providing high quality HR support to managers and employees which is consistent, compliant and pragmatic. The Head of HR will, working with SMT, lead the Association in promoting a culture which improves performance, facilitates staff wellbeing and supports the delivery of positive outcomes.
Primary responsibilities include leading the development and delivery of employee engagement, implementing HR policy, recruitment and training and using data analysis to compile quarterly reports to SMT and Trustees to provide insights into employee issues and the wider societal issues affecting the Association.

About You
Experience working within a similar sized organisation (circa 400 employees) is essential to being successful in this role. You will ideally be MCPID qualified and have extensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of HR law, particularly those governing TUPE and performance management as well as substantial experience in developing and implementing HR Policy. You will be fully ‘hands on’ leading on complex employee relations issues, including TUPE, redundancy and settlement as well as managing the Association’s Life Assurance Scheme and providing expert support to the Remuneration Committee in matters of remuneration and reward. As well as having a track record of providing high quality recruitment and retention strategies and knowledge of Auto Enrolment and DC pension schemes, you will have the ability to identify opportunities to refine and improve business processes relating to People Management.
