About Us
Would you like to join our friendly and supportive team, working to support RAF personnel and families? After a few years with us, Support & Outreach Team Member Ken is leaving us for an equally worthwhile role within the prison service and we need to replace him with someone just as committed to supporting Serving personnel and families! The Royal Air Force Families Federation (RAF FF) exists to improve the quality of life for the RAF family around the world – at work or at home. We provide an independent voice for Serving personnel and their families and is a confidential service that relies upon the integrity, and professionalism of its staff to deliver a Federation that is both credible and respected by all parties
About the role
The key focus of this role is to support Service personnel and their families who may have encountered problems through being a member of the RAF. This is a varied role, where you will be directly engaging with personnel and families on RAF units for some of the time (although you will always have plenty of notice before travelling), whilst also working with the wider RAF Families Federation team.
Reporting to the Support and Outreach Manager, the team are responsible for proactive planning, coordination and evaluation of engagement with RAF units along with developing relationships with key stakeholders. A high level of computer literacy will be required to enable you to work with a range of applications including Office, Teams and Sharepoint as well as some CRM database experience (we use Saleforce) as you will be allocating casework and assisting in the production of reports and data analysis – however training will be given of course. Working alongside our Communications Manager, your input will be valued in the implementation of our RAF FF Communication an Engagement Plan which also includes monitoring our social media activity to identify issues and trends for further analysis.
You will join an environment where there are plenty of opportunities to contribute to our overall mission with training opportunities and networking. In addition, we offer agile working allowing you to split time between office and home ensuring your work/life balance is where it should be.
About You
Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of the RAF lifestyle and its impact on Serving members and their families along with knowledge of the Armed Forces Covenant. Your finely honed communication skills are integral to this role enabling you to adapt your style to a variety of audiences in a warm, empathetic professional manner with an ability to build trust and confidence with external stakeholders such as MOD and RAF staffs, as well as your own colleagues! Previous experience of providing advice, support or signposting to other organisations is an essential requirement for this role along with a high level of efficiency and accuracy in preparing reports and briefing materials. A UK driving license is required as you will be required to occasionally travel to meetings throughout the UK to represent the Federation for which we will reimburse travel costs
