RAF Benevolent Fund achieves MoD Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award

The RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, has been awarded the MoD Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award, the highest accolade bestowed upon employers who actively support the Armed Forces community.

The Gold Award is given to organisations and charities who proactively advocate and support the Armed Forces community and veterans’ employment, aligning their values with the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC), which ensures that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. Many thousands of organisations have signed up to the AFC including businesses, local government, schools, and charities. The ERS is awarded by the MoD to encourage employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same.

The Fund fully supports and advocates the AFC and will continue contributions in raising awareness of supporting the Armed Forces community and encouraging businesses to engage in activities that contribute to their welfare. From the first day in uniform, to the transition to civilian life and retirement; the Fund ensures that serving personnel, Reserves, veterans, and their families, never face life’s challenges alone.

Receiving the ERS Gold Award is a significant honour for the RAF Benevolent Fund, as it reflects its deep and ongoing commitment to the AFC and the wellbeing of the RAF community. As it has done for 106 years, the Fund will continue to uphold its commitment to providing vital financial, practical, and emotional support to the RAF Family.

The Award not only affirms the impact of the Fund’s work but also strengthens its resolve to lead by example, championing the needs of the Armed Forces community and encouraging other organisations to play their part in building a fairer future for those who serve and have served. If you would like support for your organisation to work towards ERS recognition, the Fund can provide advice on how to better support Reservists, veterans, and military families, helping to promote the value of the Armed Forces in the workplace.

The RAF Benevolent Fund provides financial, emotional, and practical assistance to serving and retired RAF personnel and their families. This includes grants to help with financial difficulty, mental health support, Airplay youth clubs, and more.
