***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team at the Royal Air Force’s leading welfare charity and anyone who cares about delivering person-centred, holistic and effective support and has the right skill sets, should strongly consider applying. As a Head of Department (HoD), you will join colleagues in enabling and delivering high quality support to those in the RAF Family who are in need; in 2020, we helped over 63,500 people, with the HIG managing a £4m budget. Despite these challenging times, we are ambitious for the future, as we work to renew our strategy for 2023 and beyond.
The role is well suited to someone who has a strong grounding in individual casework and ideally grant giving; we are looking for an individual who has proven line management experience, is passionate for our cause, and is flexible and thoughtful in approach. They will also be versatile and imaginative, be able to think strategically but have a good eye for detail and have a clear focus on delivery; the post also requires a high level of individual work/output. Successful integration with the current team will be vital. In addition, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate their ability to work effectively with HoD level colleagues, individually and through the Welfare Management Board, as well as a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, across the Armed Forces Sector. They will of course want to live by the Fund’s values and actively want to help those in adversity. For an informal discussion, please contact the current postholder Al Bennett on 020 7307 3377 or Paul Hughesdon, the Fund’s Director Welfare and Policy via his EA Loretta on 020 7307 3306. Prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to review the Fund’s website, our published research and most recent annual review. The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Monday 14 June 2021. For those longlisted, suitability assessments will be held on Wednesday 23 June 2021, at which time there will also be a chance to virtually meet the Welfare Leadership Team. Those shortlisted will be called back for interview on Wednesday 30 June 2021. These dates are set. The post becomes available from mid-August 2021. To apply for this very rewarding role, please email a covering letter (2 pages max – in which you should clearly explain how you meet the job profile), your CV (3 pages max) and details of your notice period, to Elizabeth Haigh, HR Advisor, RAF Benevolent Fund at hrservices@rafbf.org.uk. Due to the high number of applications expected, only those longlisted will be notified. This role is based at Head Office, RAF Benevolent Fund 67 Portland Place, London W1B 1AR. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check. |
