Location: Wittering/Potential for partial home based working

The role of the RAF Families Federation (RAFFF) is to provide an independent voice for serving RAF personnel and their families, to capture evidence of their views and to advocate on their behalf to senior RAF, MOD staffs and government ministers. It is a confidential service that relies upon the integrity and professionalism of its staff to deliver a Federation that is both credible and respected by all parties.

The RAFFF Policy Adviser is responsible to the RAFFF Operations and Policy Manager for liaising with Government Departments, regional authorities, RAF units, personnel and families on their policy areas and the wider work of the Federation, identifying and sharing best practice and reporting issues and concerns. This is a role where issues you raise may be important in shaping government policy, and requires someone with the ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the RAF lifestyle and its impact on serving members and their families. In addition to this the ideal candidate will also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications and experience of maintaining and analysing data. They will have excellent communication skills, and will relish both the variety of challenges – and the support – that being in a small cohesive team can bring. Having relevant experience of some kind in the policy area you will be leading in would be beneficial, or the ability to demonstrate you could develop this knowledge base quickly.
