***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***
Reading Force is a charity that supports military families to read together, to mitigate the impact of separation and change that are so often part of Forces life.
Of late we have grown significantly, and we are now looking to recruit an office administrator/manager. This is a new role, and a very important one to help us work more efficiently and effectively. We are seeking someone to work centrally within our team, connecting our eight part-time staff, all of whom work from home, and operate as our central administrative hub, managing a broad range of Human Resources, IT, Governance and Administration tasks.
The role is initially funded five days a week (25 hours) for nine months, but we aim to extend this through further funding. The Office Administrator/Manager will also work from home but be in regular contact with all our team.
Key areas of responsibility
We need an excellent organiser with strong planning, time and budget-management skills, successfully balancing multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines – and able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. We want you to support us as we seek to build and manage relationships with the wider community that can really benefit from Reading Force.
This is a varied role that includes a wide variety of different involvements, from day-to-day administration (e.g. handling enquiries, and maintaining stock levels of our materials) to HR-support (e.g. assisting with employment contracts and maintaining records). We’d like our new colleague to be committed to effective governance (e.g. maintaining policies, and organising and minuting trustee meetings), and to have a proactive approach in assisting other operational areas as required.
It is vital that our new colleague understands our charity’s principles, values and strategic direction and is focussed on helping us achieve our goals, objectives and plans. We want you to have an understanding of Forces communities and also appreciate the value of reading and literacy for all, with a particular emphasis on sharing books as a mechanism to foster improved communication.
In brief:
We are looking for someone who is in sympathy with our organisational goals and ethos and is a natural team-player. We want someone who is organised, detail-orientated, proactive, responsive, focussed – and above all collaborative. As a group of colleagues, we are a well-established team, and the role is fully supported. We want you to be part of our informal, proactive and fast-developing future.
