Volunteer Role (Reasonable Expenses Paid)
Four meetings a year
Who we are
The RAF Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, dedicated casework to support individuals, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.
We work together to make sure no one is ever left behind. We have a long and proud track record of supporting the RAF community, and in supporting veterans and their widows to maintain meaningful connections and sustain independence in later life.
About the role
Information and data are central to our ability to understand and meet the needs of the RAF Community. The Information Committee has an essential role in supporting this aim. It provides strategic oversight of the Association’s information and data strategies, processes and systems, ensuring these are fit for purpose and maintain the appropriate levels of security and compliance, as well as overseeing change programmes to ensure that our approach continues to evolve to meet the needs of the charity, and the community it serves.
We are seeking to appoint an independent member of the Committee to provide support and challenge to the Association’s Chief Information Officer. You will bring your experience of working in information technology or security in the charity, public or private sector, to provide strategic guidance and challenge to shape and inform our information strategies and systems. You will also work with your fellow Committee members to ensure that the Association implements effective controls to ensure the highest standards of information management and data protection.
Alongside an appreciation of good governance, we are seeking an individual with:
- The skills and experience to help lead in a way which is consistent with the ethos of the RAF Association.
- Experience of cyber security, information management, programme management or CRM development.
- Proven ability to work at a strategic level, think creatively and challenge constructively through the application of your knowledge and experience.
- The highest standards of personal integrity and independent judgement alongside a commitment to robust corporate governance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other Committee Members and Executive teams.
