About The Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League (RCEL)

The RCEL is at the heart of a Commonwealth network that supports veterans who have served in UK Armed forces prior to their countries’ independence – ensuring their unique contribution is never forgotten. We’ve been here since 1921 and we’ll be here as long as they need us.

Our Values and Behaviours

Does the following describe you?

– A desire to provide a great customer service and support to our aging beneficiary cohort
– Enjoy and thrive working in a small team and with others
– Passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community and honouring their contribution
– An encourager, eager to share your knowledge and experience to help others

The Role

The Controller Operations is responsible to the Chairman of the RCEL Welfare Committee for the implementation of the League’s operational welfare work through the daily management of the approval and distribution of individual and bulk grants to Member Organisations.  The successful candidate will be required to achieve close and effective liaison with all United Kingdom Service and Civilian charities to almonise grants and to manage the widely differing nature of welfare work associated with each Commonwealth member organisation.

To be successful you will have a current proven track record in the management of welfare casework, including dealing with data protection and safeguarding issues.  You should also exhibit a clear evidence of interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with your colleagues throughout the RCEL global family and other key stakeholders.

Proven organisational and analytical abilities are expected. You should be able to combine your workload in time sensitive and demanding situations – every day will bring new challenges, test your skills, experience, and bring variety.

RCEL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risk and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Before applying please refer to the job description and person specification and demonstrate your suitability by addressing the criteria.

This is a full-time role based in London. There will be a requirement for overseas travel.
