The Role
The Royal British Legion is recruiting for an External Grants Manager to oversee the Legion’s programmes of grant-funding for organisations, including elements of the Irish Ex-Services Trust and the LIBOR-funded Aged Veterans Fund. The new Manager will lead a small team, ensuring thorough and evidenced assessments and monitoring of grants made to projects which benefit the Armed Forces community.
The role will involve liaising with external charities, including but not limited to those which are predominantly associated with the Armed Forces. Assessment will include considering each application on its merits, factoring in each applicant’s Governance framework, budget, projected beneficiary reach and anticipated outcomes. More broadly, the role will support the Head of Grants & Social Policy in proposing new funding themes and introducing a refined, modern grant management process.
The successful candidate will be experienced in providing guidance to charity professionals, analysing proposals and preparing formal funding recommendations.
This appointment comes at an exciting time for the department and the successful applicant will have the ability to input into the strategy of the External Grants Programme and ensure it can best meet the most urgent needs of the Armed Forces Community.
Some UK travel will be required.
