The Role

This is an exciting time for procurement at the Legion as the team has grown and re-structured around spend categories and we are looking to develop a roadmap for change to ensure we are a leading function in the sector. We are seeking to employ an experienced Procurement & Contract Manager to join The Royal British Legion. Reporting to the Senior Procurement and Contract Manager responsible for Marketing and Fundraising, you will play a key role in formulating and driving a consistent approach towards all sourcing, tendering and contract management activity across this key area of the business. This is a post within a developing procurement function at an exciting time of step-change. With an investment in procurement there is an opportunity to join a function that has ambitions to be best in sector. It is envisaged that the post will be aligned to Marketing and Fundraising areas of spend (creative services, print, events, fundraising services etc.) though there will be scope for cross-category working as part of the role’s development.

The post holder will be required to support stakeholders with the design and development of sourcing strategies for their requirements and assisting in the delivery of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle with a longer-term vision to support category strategy and planning for the areas of responsibility. It is expected that the jobholder be able to manage cross-functional stakeholders through the entire procurement lifecycle from concept through to contract signature and service implementation. The successful applicant will have high personal integrity and a desire to be personally accountable for delivering effective outcomes.

The successful applicant should ideally be MCIPS qualified (or willing to work towards) and have experience of procurement planning, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, category planning and contract / supplier performance management. You must also be able to demonstrate previous successes in developing effective relations with internal clients and suppliers and in negotiating and managing contracts to achieve savings. Effective communication skills, both written & verbal will be key attributes of the successful applicant.

This is a full-time role based in Central London; there will however be a requirement for occasional travel throughout the UK.
