Serving soldiers walk 100 miles for Armed Forces charity

On 5 March, Alfie McArthur, who is currently serving in the Scots Guards, will take on the mighty challenge of marching 100 miles in two and half days with a small group of his fellow friends from different regiments.

The soldiers are GDSM McArthur from the 1st Battalion Scots Guards, TPR Richmond from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, TPR Goddard from the Queens Royal Hussars and TPR Glanvill from the Royal Dragoon Guards.

The team will start in Edinburgh and plan a challenging 100 miles, laden with equipment to be self-sufficient.

“I like challenge, this is the first of many to come. I have chosen to fundraise for SSAFA because of the support they provide to the Armed Forces and their families with whatever challenges they face such as welfare and benefit issues, returning to civilian life, mental health wellbeing and disability support. I would also like to fundraise for a charity that supports bevered parents as I lost my daughter recently.”
