A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Adoption Panel Administrator in the Adoption Service at SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.
About the role
The SSAFA Adoption Service is a registered independent adoption agency in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The work of the Service includes recruitment, assessment and approval of prospective adopters, placement of children from the Looked after Children system with our approved adopters through collaborative work with local authorities, provision of post placement and post adoption support to adoptive families and working with adopted adults who wish to access their birth records.
We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic administrator to fill this position within our busy Adoption Service. The post-holder will provide administrative support to the SSAFA Adoption Service and administer the regular Adoption Panel Meetings.
You will be the first point of contact for potential adopters approaching the service. Throughout the adoption process you will aid the Social Work Team in the recruitment, assessment and support of prospective adopters.
An important part of this role is effective administration of the Adoption Panel, within the legislative guidelines. You will be expected to undertake a number of administrative duties in order to support the Adoption Panel, including taking minutes of lengthy Panel meetings. You will also have responsibility for maintaining the department’s electronic and paper filing systems.
To carry out this role successfully you will have a strong background in administration. You will be a highly motivated, pro-active individual who can prioritise work when under pressure and have the confidence to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
You will be dealing with sensitive information and due to the nature of the work the need for confidentiality is paramount.
You will have experience of taking minutes of complex meetings and producing detailed and accurate minutes. You will have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills, which will include the use of Customer Relationship Management systems.
Previous experience of working in a similar role, as an Adoption or Fostering Panel Administrator is not essential but highly desirable.
You will be an enthusiastic team player, willing to undertake any administrative task, from room bookings, to filing and composing letters. This is an interesting and challenging position and certainly not your standard administration role.
