SSAFA – Advanced Practitioner (Social Worker)

***THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED***

£ 31,750

37.5 hours

RAF High Wycombe: Buckinghamshire

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Advanced Practitioner to join the Personal Support & Social Work Service at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet: those currently serving, reserves, veterans, and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

About the role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated Social Worker to join our team and contribute to the further development of the service. This role is located at RAF High Wycombe, part of the friendly and supportive South Region. We are a hard-working team, dispersed across the South of England.  Although we all have our own area of responsibility, we support each other in delivering the best possible service to the RAF community. The Advanced Practitioner will be expected to carry a caseload and support the wider Regional team, leading in an area of expert practice, developing the knowledge and skills base.

You will have the opportunity to build on and develop your existing skills. You will work closely with RAF High Wycombe’s Welfare and Community Support teams, as well as the Local Authority, Health, and other civilian agencies in relation to providing direct welfare support to the service community.  This role may include, but is not limited to, one to one support, advocacy, initial assessments, support plans, signposting, and referrals to outside agencies.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have a relevant Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will also have demonstrable post-qualification experience of working within a statutory Adult and/or Children and Families setting and be skilled in completing thorough assessments to achieve successful outcomes. Evidence of post qualification training / development is also essential, as well as good communication, organisational and IT skills. Once current restrictions are lifted, you must be prepared to travel regularly within the South region in the course of your work, so a full driving licence is essential.

SSAFA is an employer that values the diversity of its workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

No agencies please. Any unsolicited submissions from agencies will be accepted as a direct application from the candidate and no fees will be payable.
